Safe Church Training

Beloved Community Safe Church Policy

Can't attend the Aug. 15 training? Click here for more information on how to register for online training.

Beloved: both of our denominations (Episcopal Church and ELCA) require leaders and folx in ministry to take some training (and then refresh that training every three years) to insure that each church creates a safe environment and practices healthy boundaries so that everyone who comes to Beloved Community or participates in our ministries will be safe.

Beloved Communities utilizes Safe Church (through Praesidium Academy) via the Episcopal Church as it comes to us “cost-free,” and is easily accessed via computer. Folx can take the training as it fits their scheduling, as long as it's done within the specified timeframe starting with beginning in the ministry. If you're a member who's required to take Safe Church training and/or refresh your training, and you don’t have access to a computer, please contact our office so we can make that happen.

There are Foundational Modules that all Church workers/ministers/leaders are required to take. There are also modules for supervisory roles and modules for Ministry Roles.

From the Episcopal Diocesan website: You play a vital role in keeping your church a safer place. Praesidium Academy modules provide online courses on proper boundaries to create a safer church and community. To establish a user account to take online courses from Praesidium Academy, please email Deacon Terry Garner (dcnterry.g@gmail.com) who will provide instructions.
