Getting Involved with Beloved Community Ministry Teams
Want to get involved in the Beloved Community? We've got plenty of opportunities.
Pickleball Ministry
These are folks from Beloved who play pickleball and host open gyms for pickleball, as well as a Parkinson's Support group for pickleball. Sometimes they have a Learn to Play Day.
Beloved Community hosts a thrift sale twice a year to support One Big Tent. This team organizes the sales.
Breakfast Bunch
This group meets at Legacy Restaurant on the first Thursday of the month for breakfast and fellowship. All are welcome.
Campus Ministry
We work with the leaders of the Native American Center, Queer Resource Center, and Multicultural Center at UWSP; we provide meals, fellowship, student support, and snacks/goodies with the intention of building relationships.
Chronic Illness Support Group
This support group is for anyone who suffers from a chronic illness or supports others who do. It is facilitated by a Beloved Community member. This group meets on Wednesdays on and off site. Check the calendar for details.
The Creation Care team is restoring native prairies to our grounds. They also grow a three-sisters garden and have plans for the grounds at Beloved Community.
Men's Group
Men of all ages are invited to join this group who meet monthly to discuss a chosen book. They meet at a local restaurant for study and fellowship.
Craft Group
This is a group open to all crafters. They meet at 2 p.m. Wednesdays in the Welcome Area.
This group determines how Beloved Community will support our neighbors financially and through special community and denominational projects. We meet mostly online.
Contemplative Community
The main gathering for this community is Centering Prayer on Tuesday evenings in the Prayer Room. The Prayer room opens at 6 pm, with Centering Prayer starting at 6:15 pm. They also host other contemplative gatherings such as the Labyrinth.
Pastoral Visitors
These members visit the homebound or those in hospital who are unable to come to our church building for communion. It is a ministry of relationship.
All prayer requests go to this team of prayers. This team also reaches out via cards to those who need our prayers and to those who support the ones in need.
At 11 a.m. Tuesdays, this team meets in the fireplace area to study and discuss the upcoming Sunday's readings.
This is our Youth group for grades 6-12. We meet twice a month for study, serving, and playing. We share a meal together. Throughout the year, we also have pop-up events.
Beloved Community focuses on our children learning how to walk in the way of love. The Pathfinders group (Pre-K-5th grade) is provided a "prayground" in our worship space, opportunities to serve at worship, and the chance to be a pop-up events throughout the year.
Living Word Players
This team of presenters brings alive the Bible readings at the 9:45 a.m. service. We meet once a month to prepare our Living Word presentations.
Beloved Community is a founding member of One Big Tent.
Laundry Love is a branch ministry of One Big Tent. Twice a week, we provide laundry soap and quarters so our neighbors can do their laundry for free. This is a ministry of relationship.
Twice a month at our 9:45 a.m. Sunday Gathering, our Beloved Community worship band leads the music. The band plays contemporary music, well-known hymns, gospel music, and music from other sources and traditions.
Worship ministers do "the work of the people" (the definition of liturgy) for our Sunday gatherings. They are ushers/greeters, readers, prayer leaders, and serve at the altar. We also have positions for our children to serve.
